My art can be described in two ways. First as scientific illustrations, working in the medium of graphite and ink, more time is spent studying and revising until it accurately depicts its subject. These works fulfill an intellectual need to know how things look and work, all while helping others understand as well. Second are paintings inspired by vivid imagination, letting go of the idea of perfection, to free emotions and thoughts onto canvas. The acrylic medium is perfect for visible, energetic brush strokes and vibrant colors. While these styles appear opposite, my stylized scientific illustration is two sides of the same coin. Joining the vibrancy and freedom of paint with the knowledge and techniques of scientific illustration.
